Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate has suspended his campaigns to mourn the death of at least two supporters who died in a fatal accident at Adundu village about 2kms outside Panyamur Town Council, Nebbi district.
The dead have been identified as Zulaika Yasin and Hellen Picho, a councillor at Nebbi Municipal Council.
The deceased were travelling atop a Canter lorry that was part of Amuriat’s convoy as he mobilised for support in Nebbi and Pakwach districts.
The lorry failed to climb Panyamur hill and rolled into the trench killing the two instantly and injuring at least 15 others.
Devastated by incident, Amuriat announced that he would take a break from the campaign trail to mourn the death of his supporters as well as recover from the shock.
“It is the first of its kind happening to me in my entire political life; I am in such a shock. For that matter, we have taken a decision to suspend the campaigns,” Amuriat said.
