30 year old man burnt to death in Kyangwali

A 30-year-old man has been burnt to death in Kyangwali Sub County, Kikuube district.

The deceased has been identified as Daniel Ndigizimaana, a resident of Kyamugasa LC1 in Butoole pariKyangwali sub-county.

It is alleged that unknown assailants raided his home situated in the same village in the early hours of Wednesday morning at around 2a.m and set his grass-thatched house on fire.

The deceased who was inside his house was burnt to death. At the time the assailants set his house ablaze, the deceased was alone in his house.

Beatrice Arishaba, a neighbour says when they responded to an alarm made by the deceased, they discovered a thick dark smoke emanating from the burning house adding that it was too late for them to save his life since they could not manage to put off the raging fire.

Edward Tumusiime, another resident wants police to thoroughly investigate the motive behind Ndigizimaana’s death for justice to prevail.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson said they managed to arrest three people who are suspected to have torched the deceased’s house that resulting in his death.

The suspects whose names have been concealed by police for fear of jeopardizing police investigations are being detained at Kikuube central police station.

According to Hakiza, police retrieved Ndigizimaana’s remains that were later taken to Hoima City mortuary for postmortem.

He says the postmortem report indicates that the deceased died from respiratory failure that resulted from suffocation.

In July last year, a fire gutted a house in Hoima city killing three minors and injuring another critically. The incident occurred around 10:30 pm in Kihomboza cell in Hoima West division.

The deceased minors were identified as Asumpta Kabanyoro 2, Andrew Muhumuza 4 and Jonathan Muganyizi 5 while the injured is 9-year-old Juliet Tusiime.

At the time if the incident, the minor’s parents were attending a vigil in the neighborhood when fire gutted their grass-thatched house.

The following August, two children perished in an inferno in Kapai sub-county of the district after their house was torched by unknown arsonists.

The deceased children were identified as 10-year-old Charity Ayiyorwoth and 4-year-old Gloria Nyasiabi, both children of Ethien Thokeronga and Christine Adubango, residents of Kapapi 2 Village Kapapi parish in Kapapi Sub County Hoima district. The incident occurred around 11 PM.

The children were alone in their grass thatched house when assailants torched it.

The children were reportedly under the care of Joyce Iwutung who locked them inside the house and went out to drink in Kapapi trading center.
