Bank of Uganda board of directors has picked Dr Adam Mugume to replace out of contract Dr Louis Kasekende as deputy governor but in acting capacity until a substantive appointment to the post is made.
Mugume will carryout duties that were being done by Dr Louis Kasekende, whose contract expired in January and was not renewed.
Mugume who has been working as the executive director for research, previously headed the modeling division between 2007 and 2010. He holds a PhD from Oxford University, UK, and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Botswana.
For his PhD, he researched on applied econometrics and macroeconomics. He previously headed the department of Economic Theory and Analysis at Makerere University. He also consulted for the World Bank and African Economic Research Consortium between 2004 and 2007.
His experience lies in economic forecasting and policy analysis; macroeconomics, applied econometrics, and fiscal and monetary policies. He also teaches econometrics at Makerere University.
In a letter on Friday evening, James Kakooza, the presiding chairman asked BOU staff to grant him all the necessary support.
