The families of the National Unity Platform (NUP) members who were arrested in Kasese District last week are demanding for justice.

The five members include; Bryan Basisa, the NUP Kasese District Chairperson, Geoffrey Bwambale, the NUP coordinator for Bundibugyo and Atanazio Isanat from Ntoroko District. Others are Isaac Mumbere and Oninzi Kule a Boda Boda rider from Hima Town.
They were arrested by security personnel on Tuesday last week from Kamaiba Lower, Kamaiba Ward in Kasese Municipality.

The family members said that since their arrest, they don’t know their whereabouts and the charges they were arrested for. They also accuse the police of failing to arraign them in court.

Mbandi Amuza, a close friend of the members says that he is receiving numerous calls from families asking about the whereabouts of the five.

Mbandi also said that several NUP supporters and leaders in the district have gone into hiding for fear of being arrested.
He demanded that the police produce the members before a competent court or release them unconditionally.
Lillian Musoke the wife of Bwambale says that her husband is the sole breadwinner at home adding that she is currently under the care of the neighbours.

Jonex Kule, a family friend, says they have since last week failed to access Bwambale.

Isaac Kisembo, the brother of Basisa said they have not been given any information concerning the whereabouts of his brother.

Kisembo added that the police have been deployed at their family house without giving them reasons for the deployment.

Tumwine Marutsya, the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson says police completed investigations and what is remaining is for the court to set date for hearing.

Sibendire Bigogo one of the lawyers says they will ensure the members appear in a competent court.
