KCCA Netball Club has defeated Uganda People Defense Force (UPDF) netball club in group B game in the ongoing East Africa Netball championship at Treasure Life Center in Kamwokya.
KCCA’s new signing and goal shooter, Anisha Muhammad was on top of her game and helped to secure maximum points for her new side.
KCCA dominated almost the entire first half. By the end of the second quarter, KCCA was already ahead with a 38- 10 score.
Fred Mugerwa’s side continued to dominate the game with good defence from Shaffie Nalwanja that stopped UPDF’s Agnes Kajumbi’s efforts thus ending the final half with 67-24.
Speaking to URN after the game, KCCA head coach, Fred Mugerwa applauded his players for the spirited fight and thanked his new signing for trying to fit into the team.
Anisha Muhammad said that she had a good debut and is hoping to improve her game as she bids to help KCCA win the championship.
Agnes Kajumba, UPDF’s goal shooter, said that the game did not go as they anticipated but she is happy that they tested some of the newly recruited players.
The eight-day tournament has attracted over 16 teams, both male and female from Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanzania, and Hosts Uganda.
Uganda’s representatives include National Insurance Corporation-NIC, Prisons, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), and Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF).
Kampala University and WOB are the only representatives in the men’s edition.
