Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) had just arrived at Lubaga Hospital in an ambulance carrying a critically injured journalist, Ashraf Kasirye when the news of the killing of Frank Ssenteza came in.
Ssenteza has been one of the private bodyguards of the presidential candidate.
According to a tweet on the National Unity Platform (NUP) handle, Ssenteza was knocked dead by a military truck registration number, H4DF 2424, at the Busega roundabout as Kyagulanyi’s convoy rushed Kasirye to Lubaga hospital for specialised treatment after being shot at by the police during a stand-off between the presidential candidate and security operatives.
He was heading to Lwengo for his scheduled campaign meetings.
Immediately he got the news of Ssenteza’s death, Kyagulanyi came out of the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where the journalist is admitted, to speak to break the sad news.
“It is sad that our colleague has been killed. It is hurting to many of us but my appeal is, let us remain strong. Even if you are not strong enough, pretend to be strong because keeping strong is what we are left with, and one day, we will be proud of what we are involved in because nothing of it is against the law,” he said.
“I don’t know what explanation I will give to the parents of those colleagues,” a teary Kyagulanyi added.
