Kyaka County is the champion of the Tooro Kingdom Masaaza cup.
They were crowned winners on Good Friday after defeating Bunyangabu County 1:0 in the Masaaza cup finals at Buhinga Playground in Fort Portal Tourism city.
Kyaka’s midfielder, Richard Mugume scored the lone goal that his side victory.
Teams from the nine counties that make up the Tooro Kingdom participated in the MTN sponsored championship.
They included Fort portal city, Mwenge south and North, Kibale, Bunyangabu, Ntoroko, Burahya Kitagwenda and Kyaka counties.
Kibale county took the 3rd position after beating Burahya 5-4 in penalty shootouts after a goalless draw during full-time.
Kyaka County bagged a trophy and Shillings 5 million in cash.
Bunyangabu picked Shillings 3 million, Kibale County Shs 1.5 million while Burahya County, which came fourth bagged Shs 500,000.
Speaking on behalf of King Oyo Kabamba Iguru, the kingdom premier, Bernard Tunagwo, said the monarchy has been able to provide health services to its subjects during the Football tournament.
These included among others cancer screening, HIV testing and counselling and COVID-19 vaccination. Tunagwo said the Kingdom will use the games to promote its agenda, especially the King’s 25-year development plan.
