MP to attach voters’ property over court case award

Two local voters in Soroti are in trouble after losing a case in which the dragged a victorious MP Elect to court claiming he had rigged the election, and they now have to  pay

him a collossal sum of money.

Jonathan Ebwalu, the Member of Parliament Soroti City West has vowed to attach any valuable property owned by the voters who dragged him to court to recover his costs and damages.

Ann Grace Ameco and Donald Okwasi voters challenged Ebwalu’s victory alleging that he rigged elections and bribed voters to secure his victory which is against the law governing elections.

Justice Elizabeth Musoke, Justice Muzamira Mutangula Kibeedi and Justice Monica Mugenyi, on 7th June 2022 dismissed the case against Ebwalu with costs.

In an interview with our reporter Ebwalu has vowed never to forgive Ameco and Okwasi whom he said must pay over Sh 181 M he spent to pay his lawyers plus other costs and damages.

Ebwalu explained that, if the two do not possess any valuable assets, then he will be left with no choice than to attach their land and if the land does not measure up to the costs then they should be ready to rot in jail.

He persisted that he wants to use the two voters as an example to demonstrate to other poor people exploited by politicians to fulfill and achieve their targets to refrain from being used.

Ebwalu has called upon his competitor then David Calvin Ecodu whom he believes was behind the case to cough the money and save the two from spending the rest of their lives in prison.
