Tomato vendor hacked to death in Kibaale

The Police in Kibaale are are holding a middle-aged man for allegedly hacking to death a Tomato vendor on the eve of Easter Sunday celebrations.  

The suspect is Asiimwe Alex Mapera, a resident of Muraza village Karama sub-county. 

He allegedly ambushed Tibandeba Tanansi,56, on Saturday afternoon on the way from Kitutu Market where had gone to sell tomatoes and hacked him to death. 

Tibandeba ’s body was found lying in a pool of blood beside the road. 

Willian Kiiza, the LC1 chairperson of Muraza village, says the suspect hacked Tibandeba severally on the head killing him instantly. 

Residents managed to arrest the suspect and handed him to the police for investigation.

The Kibaale District Police Commander, Esther Adeke, says that they are yet to establish the motive behind the attack on Tibandeba who has been selling tomatoes to residents of Karama Sub County. She thanked residents for helping the police arrest the suspect instead of resorting to mob justice. 

The deceased’s body is lying at Kibaale HC1V pending postmortem.
