Uganda Cranes Coach Jonathan Macknistry has included Tony Mmawejje, Shaban Muhammad and Murushid Juuko in his 28-man provisional squad for the 2021 Chan tournament.
This is the first time in three years that Mawejje has been summoned to join the national team football while Viper’s forward Shaban also comes back to the national team after suffering a long-term injury.
“It is down to their performance, nobody gets a free ticket because of what they have done in their past”. Macknistry said.
The provisioning team summoned, however, doesn’t include any KCCA FC player as the Kasasiro boys are also heading to Rwanda for CAF Confederations Cup.
The summoned team will start training on Monday, 21st December at a venue yet to be confirmed.
Next year’s CHAN will be hosted by the 2017 African Cup of Nations champions Cameroon.
Uganda Cranes are in pot C of Chan and they will be facing off with Rwanda, Togo and Morocco.
