Two Boda Boda riders in Masaka city have been discovered dead. Their bodies were found dumped in the bush at Kyabumba village, Buwunga Sub County, Masaka district.

Daniel Kimbugwe, the Vice-Chairperson Buwunga Sub County said that the bodies were discovered by residents who had gone to collect firewood.

Kimbugwe said that one of the deceased has been identified as Huzaifah Mawanda, a Boda Boda rider who went missing two weeks ago.

He said that the identities of the second rider are yet to be established.

Kimbubgwe suspects that the two were killed by thugs who targeted their motorcycles, He adds that they found a hammer, which could have been used to kill the riders.

Patrick Kefeero, one Boda Boda rider in Masaka town said that Mawanda was a member of their association and was operating from the Kyabakuza stage in Masaka town.

He indicated that the deceased was identified by the clothes he wore on the day he went missing.

“We had notified security about his disappearance because even his phone suddenly went off, which raised our suspicions about his whereabouts and safety,” he said.

Muhammad Nsubuga, the Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson says their investigations team has embarked on the process of hunting for the killers.

He is optimistic that the hammer recovered at the scene could provide potential leads.

Nsubuga has, however, cautions Boda Boda riders against operating past night curfew hours, which he says makes them prone to attacks.

The Masaka sub-region is currently battling insecurity caused by machete-wielding assailants who have been terrorizing the area in the recent past where they have killed close to 30 people
