A man is nursing injuries after his wife scalded him with hot water accusing him of coming back home late. The incident happened on Tuesday in Lusanja, Kasangati town council in Wakiso District.
Maurine Onziru poured hot water on Steven Okello at 8:00 pm, leaving him with severe wounds. The couple has been living together for two years.
According to neighbors, when Okello who is a saloon operator returned home, Onzuru tasked him to explain why he had returned home late.
The neighbors added that Onziru entered the kitchen and returned with hot water that she poured on her husband right from the head to the lower parts of the body.
Fred Ssepuuya, the Defense Secretary of Lusanja LCI said that cases of domestic violence are rampant in his area.
He explained that they receive more than seven cases of domestic violence among couples every week.
Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy police spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan says that the police are hunting for Onziru as investigations continue.
Lauben Muhabuzi of Men’s Forum against domestic Violence in Uganda says that 28 percent of men have faced different forms of domestic violence.
He added that some men have abandoned their homes for fear of their wives.
Muhabuzi tasked men to come out and report cases of domestic violence to the authorities.
